One of the best activities to do during your Cancun vacation is to snorkel on the beautiful coral reef. Filled with fish and other sea life, it is like another world.
Punta Nizic Reef off the south end of Cancun Hotel zone is one of the best places to snorkel. The reef is located just past Club Med Cancun Resort. The water is shallow and the coral reef is full of colorful fish of all kinds.
Our Jungle Tour takes you out to the Angel Reef, also on the south end of Cancun. We saw a lobster, sea turtle and a bunch of angel rays while snorkeling here. Shallow and perfect for snorkeling.
Most other snorkeling trips out of Cancun take you to the reefs between Cancun and Isla Mujeres. These include Tavos Reef, Manchones Reef, Manchones Xico, El Garrafon & Lighthouse.
Another popular location to snorkel is in Puerto Morelos. This little town is just 20 minutes south of Cancun. The reef is very close to the shore here, but you still need to take a tour out to snorkel on the reef in Puerto Morelos. You can only use biodegradable sunblock on the reefs. It is safe for the environment and a necessity for everyone visiting Cancun or the Rivera Maya.
