Traveling to Isla Mujeres

Going to Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres is an island 20 minutes from Cancun. You can catch a ferry in 3 locations from the Hotel Zone at 9 am, 11 am or 1 pm and they all return at 5 pm. Locations are at the Xcaret Terminal across from Plaza Caracol, Playa Tortugas or at El Embarcadaro/Playa Linda. The current price is $15 US for the round trip

The “locals” ferry departs every 30 minutes & returns later (make sure to ask for the Fast Ferry. The slow ferry is, well, Slow). Problem, you need to get to Puerto Juarez. Easiest way to get to P Juarez is to take any bus downtown & then a taxi (about $2 US) to the ferry. It is very safe.

Times for the ferry are (Cost per person is about $6.50 US 1-way ($70 pesos);
From Puerto Juarez to Isla Mujeres (ferry is a 20-minute ride)
Every 30 minutes starting at 6:30 am – 7:30 pm, 8:30 pm and at 11:30 pm

From Isla Mujeres to Puerto Juarez
Every 30 minutes from 6 am to 8 pm, and 9 pm
Cost per person is about $6.50 US 1-way ($70 pesos)

My advice…if you just want to go see the Island then take a ferry from the hotel zone and don’t bother going to P Juarez unless you want to stay longer on the Island.

If you want to sail over on a catamaran, do some snorkeling, eat and drink a bit then take a little tour of the island, we offer a couple of tour options:
